A series of workshops in California and Oregon targeting wolf/livestock relationships are planned for California and Oregon in November.

The aim, according to a recent press release, is to reduce wolf/livestock conflicts in ways that benefit livestock producers, utilizing knowledge from people with years of experience raising livestock in the presence of wolves.

The workshops are aimed at assisting ranchers in their understanding of gray wolves and their behaviors, recognizing areas that pose risks to livestock, management options for reducing conflict and appropriate scale response to issues.

Local workshops will be in Fort Jones on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Fort Jones Library, in Yreka on Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express and in McCloud on Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the McCloud River Mercantile Hotel.
