COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont ecologist is telling the public about the importance of wolves, the top predator in the forest ecosystem.

Colorado-based Mission: Wolf will take part in an event Tuesday at St. Michael's College in Colchester that will include a presentation by Jericho ecologist Sue Morse.
Morse says the organization aims to educate the public on the importance of carnivores like the wolf.
Vermont Public Radio ( ) says the ambassador wolves are animals that can't be released into the wild.
Morse says wolves are just north of the border in Quebec and it's possible that in the next ten to 20 years wolves will begin making forays into northern New England and northern New York.
